CHALLENGE YOURSELF: CLiMB THE HiGHEST PEAK iN ALiCANTE

Very often shadowed by the proximity of the Puig Campana, Aitana is the truly summit of the Costa Blanca. Making everything around look small and far down. Its peak at 1,558 metres above sea level is the highest point of the province. Along the way we discover the culture of the snow wells, rich botanical diversity and it’s impressive geological formations. From summit you often see the distant coast of Murcia, the island of Tabarca or the Balearic Islands. Don’t wait to be told and do it now!

What's included?
Is this for me?

This trek is certainly possible for anyone with a good level of health and fitness, but we would not recommend it as a beginner’s trek. This trek is suited for those who are regular walkers (or runners) with good foot skills who don’t suffer vertigo. But it’s worth the views from the summit. However your leader will back you up on some rocky sections.

What will we do?

We walk from the Font de Partagat to Font de Mendoz and then scramble through Pas de la Rabosa, the only natural break on the Aitana, which gives access to the summit from this north side. We have lunch at the Simas limestone fissures, up to 90m deep, situated on a ridge near the summit of Aitana. It is an impressive geological formation and a perfect picnic spot. Weather permitting, it’s possible to climb the summit (an extra 20 minutes up). After lunch we enjoy beautiful ridge walk with 360° views back to car park.
